Job Title: Technical Support Technologist

 

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Support Technologist for our facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Responsibilities       

 

  • Sourcing and requisitioning arts and equipment.
  • Maintaining and repairing radioactively contaminated processing equipment often in areas of high radioactive fields.
  • Assembly of process equipment.
  • Design and maintenance of industrial computer (PLC) programs.
  • Design and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Drafting of project control sheets as required
  • Performing calibrations as required in a back-up capacity.
  • Administering the preventive maintenance and work requests systems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Normally, a diploma of technology in the field of either Automation or Instrumentation or Electronics Technology, plus 3-4 years’ practical experience.  Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programming is required.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Will be classed as Nuclear Energy Worker frequently working with radioactive materials and processes.
  • Must be knowledgeable about radiation and industrial hazards and the techniques to reduce these hazards.
  • Works in laboratory and production environments, subject to chemical and limited biological hazards, as well as common industrial health hazards.
  • Is part of an established on-call rotation.
  • Responsible for supervising sub-contractors working on assigned projects.
  • May assist and instruct new or junior staff in job performance.
  • Overtime may be required.

 

Physical requirements:

  • Have good manual dexterity and grip strength
  • Push and pull hand carts with a force of up to 25kgs on an occasional basis
  • Lift up to 5kgs on a frequent basis and 10kgs on an occasional basis
  • Work with arms/hands on a frequent basis
  • This position requires the successful completion of a Health & Hygiene medical assessment, vision screen and hearing test as a pre-employment condition
