Job Summary:  

Under specific guidance, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of shipments and the preparation of transportation and customs documents to facilitate the reliable movement of product to BWXT Medical Ltd. customers.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Under specific guidance, performs the following activities as appropriate to the assigned task:
  • Plan and execute the delivery of finished goods to domestic and international customers
  • Prepare required transportation and customs documentation to facilitate the delivery of finished goods.
  • Audit and approve transportation services invoices and ensure application of the appropriate contract charge.
  • Track & Trace shipments daily and report to internal managers.
  • Coordinate with outside service providers for domestic, international and hazardous shipments.
  • Assign accurate tariff classifications, and other government agency classifications based on product attributes.
  • Create, update and obtain approval for USMCA.
  • Filing of transportation documents.
  • Ensure adequate levels of required departmental supplies are maintained.
  • Ensure departmental equipment is maintained.
  • Assist in the training of new Global Logistics employees.
  • On a rotation basis, provide on-call coverage.

 

Education, Experience and Knowledge:

  • College diploma or University degree in Transportation/Business and at least 5 years of experience in the transportation field or in related area.
  • Canadian Institute of Traffic & Transportation (C.I.T.T.) education and/or equivalent.
  • Canadian Customs Specialist (CCS) certificate.
  • Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG) Hazardous Materials Transportation training with focus on Class 7 radioactive shipments.
  • IATA Initial Dangerous Goods course.
  • Technical knowledge of all modes of transportation with emphasis on courier, air freight, and truck.
  • Practical knowledge of international customs and trade regulations.
  • Understanding procedures pertinent to transportation and INCO terms as well as cargo insurance.
  • Proficiency in using logistics management software, Oracle is an asset.
  • Must communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be capable of working as part of a team and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work when facing multiple priorities and deadlines.
