We are recruiting for a Proposal Coordinator role for our Peterborough, ON location.

Role Summary:


At BWXT, you will work on technically challenging projects as a supporting member of the Customer Solutions team. Our company supports on-power refueling systems for CANDU reactors and also responds to a range of challenging engineering and supply requests. You will be at the forefront of our customer response. You will help to define the design, development and testing stages of multi-disciplinary projects related to automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling for CANDU reactors and other related systems. This opportunity will test your ability to cut through ambiguity, to generate technical, sound and accurate estimates and proposals as part of a multidisciplinary team. Connecting customers to the best BWXT solution will be your mandate and, as such, building and maintaining customer relationships are a key part of this role.





  • Prepare proposals in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop proposal strategy in support of the sales strategy.
  • Direct functional areas in preparing the various sections and inputs to the proposal document.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with customers.
  • Chair Pricing Approval Request (PAR) meetings to obtain necessary approvals for bids.
  • Conduct Turnover meetings to pass on all relevant documentation to the project team.


Cost Estimates:

  • Work in a team to prepare complete and accurate cost estimates.
  • Ensure timely and accurate estimates, contingencies, cash flows, etc.
  • Benchmark internal costs with industry to ensure competitiveness.


Cost & Risk Reduction:

  • Provide direction and strategies to reduce costs and risks.
  • Implement Project Risk and Opportunity Management (PROM) procedure to ensure risks and opportunities are captured and mitigated.


Business Development:

  • Participate in developing business strategies to accomplish business objectives.
  • Take lead, when assigned, in developing and implementing strategies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other technical area, along with 5 years of related experience.
  • Technically minded individual with previous exposure to engineering project work.
  • Exposure to a broad range of interdisciplinary departments: mechanical, I&C, software design and manufacturing.
  • Excellent written, oral and illustrative communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Demonstrated experience constructing estimates and proposals using Classification drivers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Experience in Primavera P6 software is an asset.
