We are looking for a Project Manager for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Manager has ultimate accountability for their assigned project or projects (budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction). The Project Manager will lead projects with influence, and execute control over budgets, schedules and non-technical communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiating & planning projects includes supporting and facilitating of estimation and organization of the work to be performed. This includes review and response to all contractually conveyed aspects of the work (e.g. scope, schedule, budgets, reporting and communication).
Executing, monitoring & controlling projects encompasses implementation of the work as planned; as well as analysis of data in support of changes to the planned work. Changes to the work must be subject to initiating and planning practices as above, before they can be implemented.
Closing of a project ensures the scope is fully executed, and commercial items are balanced (invoicing issued and payments received).
In addition to managing the project lifecycle, compliance with all business, departmental and contractually imposed policies, procedures and conditions must be satisfied. The Project Manager may take part in development and maintenance of standardized Project Management Organization polices, work instructions, and the like. The Project Manager must be working towards certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) as Project Management Professional (PMP); and maintain certification while in the role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
OR
- A diploma from an accredited college, with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
- Proven command of the English language in all forms (written, dialogue and presenting).
- Practical understanding of basic mathematics (calculus, algebra and statistics).
- Proven ability to influence without authority.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and business procedures and ensure ongoing compliance.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Experience in the Project Management role, and/or related functions.
- Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in good standing.
- Practical experience with typical business software (email and calendar management, MS Word, spreadsheet & presentation processing, enterprise resource planning [ERP] and scheduling).
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas: engineering, commercial operations, leadership, manufacturing, communications.
- Experience in the nuclear industry.
