Product Control Specialist (18-month Acting Assignment) - Parts and Kits

 

We are recruiting for a Product Control Specialist  (18-month Acting Assignment) - Parts and Kits for our location in Peterborough, ON. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

Our Role:

 

The Product Control Specialist will support the growing Spare Parts/Kits segment of BWXT Canada. This individual will be an integral part of the Program Team and will need to drive continuous improvement, while ensuring our customers receive the parts they request with the required level of technical and quality oversight. 

 

Your Day to Day:

 

Parts Management 

    • Responsible for identifying, tracking and resolving changes to existing items in the kit program. Changes include but are not limited to: obsolescence, material changes, part number/configuration changes, vendor drawing revisions, customer requirement changes, quality documentation changes.
    • Assisting with launching new kits, customer returns, inventory transfers etc. 

Configuration Management:

    • Ensuring that all requests from the customer to add/subtract the parts in a kit are tracked by the required deadlines 
    • Championing the submission of formal design/governing documents through engineering change (EC) packages
    • Coordinating with internal resources to ensure kits are built to the correct configuration and parts lists

Continuous Improvement:

    • The candidate will be responsible for self-identifying, gaining alignment from stakeholders and implementing continuous improvement ideas for their aspect of the Kit Program (process enhancement, waste minimization, tool development etc.)

Inter-Disciplinary Liaison:

    • Coordinate with technical (engineering) resources to ensure that outstanding issues (nonconformances, technical questions, deviation requests) are assigned and completed by the required dates to allow the parts to be supplied

Program Administration:

    • Work with the Program Manager to forecast resource needs and identify risks 

     

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited university, or, College Diploma with sufficient experience 
  • 5+ years of manufacturing planning experience in custom engineered equipment industry.
  • Very strong information management skills (Excel)
  • Experience in Nuclear is an asset but not a requirement

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $73,500 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
