Contract Specialist

 

We are recruiting for a Contract Specialist for our location in Peterborough, ON. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

Our Role:

 

A Contract Specialist exists to manage and support the entire contract process—from drafting and negotiating terms to ensuring compliance and managing performance.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, amendments, and addendums to ensure they meet company requirements and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, finance, procurement, quality, engineering and senior management—to understand and characterize contract requirements and risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of all contract documents, including tracking key deliverables compliance milestones, and renewal dates.
  • Maintain accurate records of company contract liabilities, including tracking key contractual obligations, compliance milestones, and renewal dates.
  • Identify potential areas of risk in contract terms and propose solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure contracts are executed in a timely manner and serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related questions and disputes.
  • Prepare and issue all requisite contract documents and notifications to the customer, ensuring they are accurate, compliant with contractual standards, in support of seamless contract execution.
  • Monitor ongoing contract performance and compliance, recommending modifications when necessary.
  • Characterize contract risk and requirements and work with the execution teams to ensure contract adherence.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry standards that impact contracts and procurement processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in contract management, procurement, or a related area.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex documents and identify key terms and risks.
  • Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $73,500 and $113,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
