BWXT Medical is hiring a Senior Environment Health and Safety Compliance Specialist (Occupational Safety) at our production facility in Kanata, ON.
Location: On-site; 447 March Road, Kanata, ON
Position Overview:
he Senior EHS Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with various Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs including Occupational Health and Safety, Work Planning and Control, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Fire Protection, Chemical Handling and Storage, and Environmental Protection.
Work You’ll Do:
Under little direction, pperforms the following activities as appropriate:
- Leads high level cross functional EHS projects within the company. Informs management of progress with respect to individual projects.
- Leads other EHS team members on projects as required.
- Provides technical direction and instructions to employees as required.
- Delegates, schedules and organizes work within EHS.
- Coaches other EHS team members.
- Ensures work is carried out according to safety and quality standards, and deadlines.
- Assesses the impact of new or changing regulatory requirements.
- Integrates new or changing regulatory requirements into regulatory program documentation, internal processes and procedures.
- Prepares of regulatory submissions.
- Assesses changes to manufacturing processes against established EHS requirements.
- Manages internal and external audits.
- Creates, prepares and delivers training to personnel at all levels in the organization.
- Routinely communicates with regulatory counterparts, in person and via written and verbal communications.
Required Qualifications:
- Normally a university degree in a science, engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Ideally, a minimum of 8 years’ experience with nuclear regulatory requirements or working in a nuclear or other regulated business.
- Experience with licensing of CNSC regulated nuclear facilities, management systems for safety, safety analysis, radiation protection, environmental protection, facility code compliance, security, training, or nuclear operations are assets.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
- Must have strong technical writing, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Must have ability to influence and work with people at all levels and proven skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Must possess exceptional analytical skills and have a high level of attention to detail.
- This position may require holiday coverage.
- Includes working in a combination of office and industrial environments.
