Senior EHS Compliance Specialist
We are recruiting for a Senior EHS Compliance Specialist for our facility in Kanata, Ontario.
Job Description/ Duties:
- Ownership and leadership of assigned nuclear regulatory and EHS program areas.
- Assessment of the impact of new or changing regulatory requirements and communication to the business.
- Integration of new or changing regulatory requirements into regulatory program documentation, internal processes and procedures.
- Collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders, providing nuclear regulatory and EHS direction, guidance and leadership.
- Participation in industry review of regulatory changes.
- Preparation of regulatory submissions.
- Conduct of internal audits.
- Creation, preparation and delivery of training to personnel at all levels in the organization.
- Interaction with management and employees at various levels throughout the organization.
- Routine communication with regulatory counterparts, in person and via written and verbal communications.
- Accountability for outcomes as related to assigned areas of regulatory oversight.
Job Qualification/ Requirements:
- Normally a university degree in a science, engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Ideally, a minimum of 8 years’ experience with nuclear regulatory requirements or working in a nuclear or other regulated business.
- Experience with licensing of CNSC regulated nuclear facilities, management systems for safety, packaging, transportation and import/export of radioactive material, knowledge of nuclear safeguards, safety analysis, radiation protection, training, nuclear operations, or TDG regulations are assets.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
- Must have strong technical writing, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Must have ability to influence and work with people at all levels and proven skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Must possess exceptional analytical skills and have a high level of attention to detail.
- This position will require holiday coverage.
- Includes working in a combination of office and industrial environments.
Additional Requirements
- Works under limited direction and guidance. Decisions are normally made based on interpretation of well-defined policies and precedent; however, decisions often require interpretation of new or changing regulatory requirements and unique operational situations. This position acts as the regulatory authority in areas of assigned responsibility.
