Position Overview:
As the Scientist, you will lead and execute a diverse range of scientific and applied scientific tasks in the design, development, testing, and commissioning of critical project deliverables, primarily focused on active pharmaceutical ingredients and radioisotopes. Be the owner of the technical performance and success of development projects and established processes, ensuring they meet rigorous quality and regulatory standards.

Serve as the Technical Design Authority by reviewing and approving process changes, upholding company quality procedures and driving continuous improvement.

Your Day to Day as a Job Title:

  • Reports directly to the Manager or Director of Research and Development, with accountability for managing project activities within defined budgetary limits and reporting frameworks.
  • Exercises independent judgment to make decisions and initiate actions within project parameters, proactively recommending solutions to challenges affecting personal or team project objectives—all guided by established functional practices and procedures.
  • Represents the Company on national and international committees, boards, panels, study groups, and commissions, showcasing leadership and expertise in the field.
  • Leads the identification, planning, and execution of research, design, and development activities integral to assigned projects.
  • Prepares detailed work estimates, including both direct and indirect costs, supporting effective project budgeting.
  • Supervises and mentors assigned project staff, fostering team success and development.
  • Coordinates cross-functional tasks internally and externally to ensure seamless achievement of project goals.
  • Provides expert technical guidance, including assessing the impact of changes on validated product states and supporting quality disposition justifications.
  • Occasionally performs hands-on technical work for new projects to facilitate standardized processes and procedural development.
  • May be designated as Technical Design Authority, responsible for authorizing changes and approving related procedures, technical reports, and specifications within their expertise

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering, plus at least 5 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Must have fully proficient technical knowledge within a scientific specialty (radiochemistry, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, metallurgy) and appreciation of basic principles in peripheral fields.
  • Requires a proven record of high quality research in the identified area of scientific specialty.
  • Should have a demonstrated capacity to lead and motivate co-workers in project related activities.
  • Should have a detailed knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures
  • Requires an understanding of factors that contribute to the team's success and how the team's activities impact other teams.
  • Ability to solve problems that are varied and complex. Solutions may occasionally require modification of existing concepts, but comply with regulations/ standards.
  • Past experience in radiochemical separations, specifically for actinium, radium, thorium, and uranium are highly valued.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $82,000.00 and $126,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
