We are recruiting for one (1) R7 Senior Quality Control Technician for our facility in Kanata, Ontario.
Responsibilities:Performs quality control analysis of products and raw materials.Assists in the efficient operation of the QC department which includes scheduling work, training staff and ensuring that equipment and instrumentation are in good working order.Performs document review and assists in product release activities, including use of quality systems.Performs specific administrative duties.Monitors ongoing production processes for conformance to product specifications and GMP/ISO regulations.Maintains accurate records of observations.Checks validity of results and data evaluations.Prepares and updates QC procedures.
Qualifications:Normally, Technologist Diploma (3-year) in a science discipline (chemistry or microbiology) plus 10 years of relevant technical experience.Normally at least 5 years experience with radioactive material.
- Must be able to evaluate analytical results.
- Must be able to delegate work.
- Must be knowledgeable of production processes, basic radiation protection principles and the handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques and/or radiochemistry related to the analysis of materials is required as is knowledge of detection and measurement of radioactivity.
- Knowledge of QC test methods such as Environmental Monitoring, HPLC techniques, sterility testing and pyrogen testing is required.
- Must have a good understanding of BWXT Medical’s quality practices and systems and be familiar with Good Laboratory Practices, cGMP.Must have strong interpersonal skills and leadership capabilities.
Additional Requirements (List Bona fide occupational requirements) – (examples include):- Overtime.Shift work requirements.Use of manipulators requires adequate strength to maintain a grip and full range of motion of fingers, wrists, elbows and shoulders in order to move materials around.
- Must be able to lift up to 5kgs on a frequent basis and 10kgs on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to stand for up to 3 hours at a time.Requirement to work with arms extended (in fume hoods/gloveboxes while manipulating lab equipment) for up to 15-20 minutes at a time.
- Vision requirement: 20/30 or better and a near vision of J1 (at a distance of 40cms) in at least one eye, either corrected or uncorrected.
- Must be able to maintain aseptic technique and don a clean room suit (over a plant uniform) and then possibly remain in a clean room for up to 3 hours at a time with no access to food, drink, personal items (such as medications) or bathroom facilities.

The pay range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) is expected to be between $$92,658 and $$116,096 per year. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
