We are recruiting for a Package Engineer to support product manufacturing at our facility in Kanata, Ontario.  The successful candidate will be accountable to ensure the design, manufacture, testing and licensing of radioactive material transport packaging is compliant with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Transport Canada, Transportation of Dangerous Good, requirements.  A candidate with a background in Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering is preferred.



Working within the Engineering team, you will:


  • Report on site to participate in work assignments that are carried out in office, plant, field and/or laboratory settings.
  • Prepare and/or review design documents and specifications.
  • Prepare/review design qualification testing for packages and other process equipment.
  • Prepare specifications for package manufacturing.
  • Review Manufacturing, Inspection and Test Plans (MITP) from third party manufacturers.
  • Specify inspection and test requirements for packages and spare parts.
  • Assess the fitness for use of third-party transport packages.
  • Complete thermal and stress analyses for packages.
  • Prepare and/or update Safety Analysis Reports and engineering calculations and assessments as required.
  • Evaluate and resolve product/process non-conformance issues.
  • Prepare appropriate project, quality and technical documentation for assigned projects.
  • Participate in defining engineering approaches in estimating and in planning and scheduling work.
  • Plan and conduct or delegate tests.





  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario preferred, candidate must be eligible for P.Eng
  • 5+ years of specifically related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods including but not limited to welding, brazing and machining operations, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material and the CNSC certification process would be an asset.
  • Experience with design control and Quality Systems would be an asset.
  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deliver results and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and workload prioritizing skills.
  • Experience with Solid works, MS Visio, and MS Project, would be an asset
  • Experience working with radioactive materials as a Nuclear Energy Worker would be an asset.
