Instrumentation Technician

BWXT Medical Ltd. is part of the BWXT nuclear power segment (NPG) of BWX Technologies, Inc.

We are currently looking for an Instrumentation Technician for our Kanata location.

Job Description / Duties:

• Working from schematics or wiring diagrams and layouts, assembles and installs electronic and pneumatic equipment.
• Examines and tests defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction or failure.
• Overhauls, tests and calibrates electronic, electrical and pneumatic equipment throughout facility.
• Maintains and repairs process instrumentation, programmable controllers and computer systems.
• Maintains air flow measuring equipment and related controls for nuclear ventilation.
• Carries out the provisions of a continuous instrumentation preventive maintenance system and maintains applicable records.
• Performs specific administrative duties such as maintaining accurate records of observations, results and data evaluations.
• Follow ongoing processes for conformance to operating procedures, specifications, GMP regulations and ISO standards.

Job Qualifications/ Requirements:

• Electronic Technologist diploma (3 year program) from recognized Provincial College plus 5 to 7 years relevant experience.
• Must possess effective communications/interpersonal skills and be a dedicated team player.
• Regular rotation of on-call required, 24 hours per day.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts as per the collective agreement. May be required to work on weekends and evenings on an occasional or emergency basis.
• This position is classified as a Nuclear Energy Worker.

Other Requirements:

• Lift up to 10kgs on a frequent basis.
• Wear a respirator.
• Successful completion of a vision screening and hearing test.
• Working in cleanroom.
• Working at heights or in confined spaces required.
• Overtime as required.
