Intech International Inc. is seeking a NDE Field Ultrasonic Technician (REMOTE).
SUMMARY
This position requires approx. 50% travel to Nuclear Power plants and various customer sites with a group of technicians to perform NDE inspections. The remaining time will be spent working from one of our office locations or remotely from home depending on the successful candidate’s place of residence. This position’s primary function is supporting our Nuclear Field Services program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Nuclear Field Services
- Technical and hands-on support of all site pre-deployment, execution and post-deployment activities.
- Execute site work in accordance with all procedures as well as Inspection and Test Plans.
- Support various work programs (see below) and gain experience in related fields:
- Boiler Maintenance
- NDE Inspection / Analysis (Eddy Current, Ultrasonic)
- Field Engineering
- Quality Control
- Assemble, validate and refurbish equipment prior to site deployment.
- Assist with training.
- Provide hands-on technical support for equipment setup, operation and troubleshooting.
- Investigate, assist and resolve equipment deficiencies and failures.
- Maintain a high regard for safety, operational excellence (OPEX), radiological hazards and human factors.
- Adhere to protocols for communication with customers and affiliated unions.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
In order to satisfy the working from home component, one or more of the functions below will be supported:
- Support in-house software development.
- Provide administrative assistance to Resource Coordinators.
- Build database reports and maintain internal databases.
- Assist in security clearance applications at nuclear power plant sites for new employees.
- Monitor security clearance status of employees and maintain current clearances.
- Manage employee dose records and complete accurate dose forms.
- Monitor employee records and date expirations.
- Utilize in-house software application to be used for many aspects of resource management and reporting.
- Assume other related responsibilities as may be required to improve program performance.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- CGSB UT Level 2 and CGSB Phased Array Level 2 certifications.
- 5+ years relevant NDE experience.
- Experience working at nuclear power plants.
- Prior training and knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment including electrical, mechanical and/or electromechanical devices, scanners and instrumentation.
- Able to work day and night shifts, weekend shifts, and holidays as required.
- Must be comfortable working in supervisory roles on work programs.
- Effective communication and technical report writing skills.
- Must be capable of performing physical work while wearing protective equipment such as plastic suits and breathing apparatus.
- Must climb ladders, stairs and carry loads as heavy as 50 lbs.
- The incumbent will be exposed to radiological, conventional industrial hazards, and confined spaces while working at the nuclear power station. Temperatures can vary widely depending on the area of the plant. Personal protective equipment such as dosimeters, plastic suits, fall arrest harnesses, breathing apparatus, hard hats, safety glasses and work boots must all be worn depending on the hazards present.
ADDITIONAL ASSETS (NOT MANDATORY):
- Knowledge in material science, industrial metallurgy, physics, chemistry and industrial methodology related to the field of piping systems.
- Any programming/coding/software development/computer science experience.
- Strong preference for any CGSB ET certification.
- Background in Field Engineering, Quality Engineering/Control or Computer Science.
- Previous field supervisory experience.
- Other CGSB certifications (PT, MT).
- CWB Certification.
