Intech International Inc. (a subsidiary of BWXT Canada Ltd.) is looking for a Field Engineering Trainee - Remote
JOB PURPOSE
Through immediate supervision, responsible for providing pre-deployment, project execution, and closeout support for Field Services projects. This aspect of the position requires up to 50% travel to nuclear power plants such as Bruce NGS, Darlington NGS, and Pickering NGS. Pre-deployment activities are typically located in Cambridge, Port Elgin and occasionally at respective Nuclear Generating Stations (NGS), depending on the project.
This position reports to the Resource Manager, Intech International, but is regularly assigned to the appropriate Project Manager and Site Manager per the project. This role has frequent internal communication and interactions with other Field Engineering employees, BWXT department and project managers (i.e progress reports, conveying information, etc.).
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Under immediate supervision and technical guidance, performs the following activities as appropriate for the assigned tasks or projects:
Primary: Field Services program/project support
- Field Engineering.
- Review technical specifications and scope.
- Interpret drawings and requirements.
- Assist in creating documents, procedures, and processes.
- Ensure quality program is followed and work is executed correctly.
- Assist in resolving technical issues at site.
- Versatility in supporting a wide range of projects related to inspection, maintenance, and construction.
Boiler Maintenance
- Work with a team of technicians and trades to install, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain custom robotic tooling used to maintain steam generators.
- Technical and hands-on support of all site pre-deployment, execution, and post-deployment activities.
- Investigate, assist, and resolve equipment deficiencies and failures. Support root cause analysis on key attributes of specific failures.
- Execute site work in accordance with all procedures as well as Inspection and Test Plans.
NDE Inspection/Analysis (Eddy Current, Ultrasonic)
- Understanding of Engineering, Materials and Components.
- Involved in NDE Inspection outages at NGS such as SG Eddy Current, SG Ultrasonic, and Feeder Ultrasonic Inspection.
- Gain experience towards CGSB certifications in Eddy Current and Ultrasonic.
- Work towards becoming Eddy Current/Ultrasonic Analyst.
Secondary: Process Development (working from home)
- Support the development and maintenance of in-house software application for related
business functions and streamline internal processes.
- Support/assist company’s Resource Coordinators and Administrators regarding resource and project management.
- Assist in training coordination and delivery for unionized environments.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Ideally, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical or Software) or other appropriate discipline. Technologist education may be considered.
- New graduates or recent graduate with less than 2 years of experience, preferred. Previous experience related to field engineering or office engineering is desired.
- Prior work experience or exposure to Nuclear Generating Stations.
- Limited experience and knowledge of (typically 0-2 yrs):
• Technical report writing. Mastery of the English language is required.
• Material science, industrial metallurgy and/or welding.
• Programming and/or software development in the following fields:
• C#, C++, C or equivalent
• SQL
• HTML, CSS, Java Script
• ASP.Net, MVC
• IT infrastructure, system administration, website development, and software implementation.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
- Willingness to work in a radiological setting.
- Ability and willingness to perform shift work and extended work hours (including holidays).
- Must be capable of safely performing physical work while wearing PPE such as radiological suits, hard hats, safety glasses, and breathing apparatus. The individual must be able to climb ladders, stairs, enter confined spaces, and carry equipment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Site Access Security Clearance to gain access to nuclear power plant sites (i.e. OPG/Bruce Power).
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to various nuclear power plants or office locations.
