Our facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana has an opening for a Welding Equipment Engineer.  The individual who fills this role will determine welding equipment needs and assist in the design and ordering of needed equipment while providing engineering oversight for welding equipment monitoring, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.


Primary Duties

  • Spec, get quotes and order specialized parts
  • Maintain tooling spare part inventory
  • Provide training to shop personnel on using new welding equipment
  • Assist contract welding engineers in welding process improvements
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment failures
  • Assist welders and welding supervisors in critical welding equipment operations
  • Support maintenance with engineering assessments of welding equipment
  • Support maintenance by providing the appropriate documentation for refurbishment, setup, and calibration of welding equipment


Minimum Requirements
In order to thrive in this role, individuals must possess the education and skills necessary to safely and effectively perform all required duties.  This includes, at a minimum:


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Engineering (Degrees in similar engineering disciplines will be considered if candidate has extensive job responsibilities of a Mechanical or Welding Engineering nature);
  • Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaboration and teamwork with a diverse group of engineering, operations and maintenance personnel;
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
