Position Overview
The Vice President, U.S. Commercial Operations is responsible for developing and leading BWXT’s U.S. Commercial Operations business. This role will focus on building the organization, developing the U.S. market, and establishing a best-in-class quality and operations program. The position requires a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with strong operational and commercial acumen, who can develop and grow the business while ensuring world-class safety, quality, and compliance.

 

Location: The successful candidate must be open to relocation, or working form a future operating site in North Eastern US.

 

Your Day to Day as the Vice President, U.S. Commercial Operations:

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Establish and execute U.S. market entry and growth strategy, aligning with BWXT’s global commercial vision.
  • Build organizational structure, capabilities, and culture for U.S. Commercial Operations.
  • Drive the transition from market development into sustainable operations, integrating lessons from established Canadian operations.

 

Operations & Quality

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive quality program, embedding quality into processes and driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead operational functions including engineering, manufacturing, production planning, procurement, and customer delivery.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, on-time performance, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Establish strategic objectives and operating goals of the manufacturing operations including all support functions such as manufacturing engineering, planning and maintenance. Ensure objectives for manufacturing competitiveness, safety, quality, on time delivery and customer satisfaction are achieved.
  • Manage major manufacturing shops and work closely with the Canadian Divisions to build and execute work in the US.
  • Nuclear – large machining, clean room assembly, boiler room, welding, and Fossil – tube shop, large boiler manufacturing, header shop, and small machining shop.
  • Manage the operation of manufacturing plants.
  • Direct labor and employee relations within applicable collective agreements and BWXT policies, ensuring effective planning to meet production requirements.
  • Maintenance of manufacturing facilities.

 

Commercial Growth

  • Develop new business opportunities and partnerships in the U.S. market.
  • Meet or exceed revenue, bookings, and operating income (OI) targets.
  • Represent BWXT in customer negotiations, contract development, and strategic proposals.

 

People Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across commercial and operational functions.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of safety, integrity, accountability, and performance excellence.

 

Compliance & Financial Stewardship

  • Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Manage budgets, capital planning, and P&L responsibility for U.S. Commercial Operations.
  • Identify and implement cost savings, resource optimization, and investment opportunities.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or business is required.
  • 15–20+ years of leadership experience in commercial operations, engineering, and/or manufacturing, preferably in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proven success in market development, operational leadership, and P&L management.
  • Deep knowledge of quality systems, safety programs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong track record in building organizations, driving growth, and delivering results.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, engage and interact with senior executives, regulators, and industry partners.
  • Ability to complete frequent domestic and international travel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a combination of office and operational environments.
  • Ability to manage under continuous deadlines and meet high customer expectations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required

Pay: $207,000 - $271,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $207,000 and $271,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
