BWXT is seeking qualified and motivated college students to join our highly-skilled team of Quality Assurance professionals for a unique internship opportunity at our Mt. Vernon, IN facility.  BWXT offers paid internships with additional housing stipends for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from the facility.  Interns hired for this position will perform challenging tasks while developing and delivering Quality Assurance and Inspection solutions used in a nuclear environment.  Among other tasks, our interns can expect to create/update inspection plans, assist with product Dimensional Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing, perform records verifications, and assist with receipt inspection of product and raw materials.  Be a part of something big and help support the defense industry while gaining valuable knowledge and honing your skills. 


Successful candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university studying with a Major in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Technology, or similar technical course of study AND:


  • Have a sophomore standing or above at the time the internship begins
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher


Knowledge of blueprint reading and/or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.


Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks, but may be extended in some situations.  Students will be required to make a PowerPoint presentation detailing their completed work and assigned projects at the conclusion of their internship.

U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position. 


Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (no dual citizenship) with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
