BWXT is looking for a Quality Tech Specialist to join our Mt. Vernon team! This postion will be responsible for supporting Quality initiatives as directed by management.
What we do
Situated on a 100-acre site, our facility has 600,000 square feet of shop area and a 1,000-ton lift capacity from the shop to the river. The Mount Vernon facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce components for naval nuclear reactors, which are used in submarines and aircraft carriers.
What you'll do
- Surveillance and auditing of manufacturing operations for compliance to procedures and work instructions.
- Routine review of manufacturing defects, attribution of cause, and determination of need for entry into Corrective Action Program (CAPA).
- Technical support of quality inspection, non-destructive examination (NDE) and test operations.
- Support of supplier quality engineering work processes as required.
- Review of manufacturing documentation and procedures for compliance to contract requirements.
- Serve as intermediary between departments and drive collaborative problem solving.
- Participation in Quality department audit programs.
- Support a variety of Quality improvement projects, such as: common cause error reviews, corrective action follow up and reporting, Quality improvement projects for operations and inspection group performance, Quality Metrics development and reporting.
- Function as team lead within Quality Department on implementation of new ERP software.
What we need from you
- Associates degree in a technical field plus 6 years of related quality experience, or 8 years of relevant QA/QC experience in a metal fabrication environment in lieu of degree.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledgeable of SAP ERP software and reporting tools.
- Knowledgeable of welding, machining, NDE, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Detailed oriented, organized and excellent research skills.
- Self-starter that can work with minimal direction.
- Ability to work in heights and confined spaces.
- Able to lift 30 lbs.

Pay: $64,000.00 - $101,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000.00 and $101,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
