Manufacturing Engineer (Weekend Shift) - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Mt. Vernon, IN

 

 

BWXT is currently seeking a Weekend Shift Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Mt. Vernon, IN! 

 

 Position responsibilities include:

 

  • Create and improve Manufacturing Processes and Drive Manufacturing Process Planning.
  • Support the shop floor in the production of the components to which the engineer is assigned.
  • Monitor planned hours vs actual hours.
  • Escalate awareness throughout organization for underperforming operations.
  • Coordinate with Tooling Group to ensure tools and lift drawings are prepared on time.
  • Perform a risk analysis for each operation in the manufacturing plan and select the proper defenses to mitigate possible quality rejects and schedule delays.
  • Disposition quality rejects with repair plans, justifications for accept as-is, or request for Project Engineer justification with Design Engineering input.
  • Create work scope and identify supporting technical information (drawings, procedures, etc.) needed to support requisitions for sublet activities.
  • Perform special assignments as deemed necessary.
  • This position is on weekend shift. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and at least five years of related engineering experience.
  • US Citizenship with no dual citizenship.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience providing engineering support in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience working in discrete manufacturing environments or within the defense industry.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), familiarity with NAVSEA regulations and requirements, and/or familiarity with DIN 1688.
