BWXT is seeking an Inventory Control Technician to join our growing Maintenance team in Mount Vernon, IN!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receives, verifies, stores all materials, supplies, and consumables when delivered.
  • Identifies materials as it is returned for restock.
  • Performs inventory and works with vendors to maintain consumable item inventory.
  • Checks incoming materials for possible damage in shipment, proper identification, quality and quantity.
  • Maintains perpetual inventory, control, location, catalog, distribution and associated records on a computer. 
  • Maintains close contact with the maintenance team to ensure all consumables are available in the maintenance cribs. 
  • Inputs data into computer to track material, product, supplies, and tools.
  • Completes material transfers to work orders in SAP.  
  • Closes out purchase orders, maintains tracer files and initiates miscellaneous paperwork essential to completion of job duties.
  • Produces accountability, inventory, control and environmental reports.
  • Prepares maintenance kits as requested to provide equipment and consumables to efficiently complete preventive maintenance.
  • Checks calibration on tooling and all electronic equipment and coordinates with Maintenance Planning the shipping of test equipment for calibration.
  • Inspects tools when returned, performs minor repairs and upkeep as needed, and recommends replacement as appropriate.
  • Detects and reports any faulty operations and/or defective material.
  • Maintains inventory of lubricating oils.
  • Delivers lubricating oils to machines as requested, monitors used oil storage and coordinates removal.
  • Maintains oil storage building in a clean and organized condition.
  • Moves materials, loads/unloads trucks and racks with forklifts or other equipment.
  • Builds and tears down heavy-duty racking.
  • Handles all outgoing shipments for maintenance including packaging of materials.
  • Keeps work area, machinery and equipment clean and orderly.

             

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school equivalency with six years of related experience in Materials/Inventory Management is required.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with several employees at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively from print, sketches, process sheets, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Prior work experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, team lift 85 pounds, and negotiate stairs with loads.
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous maintenance and/or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior work experience using SAP. 

 

Benefits:

Pay: $54,000 - $88,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,000 and $88,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
