BWXT is seeking qualified and motivated high school students to join our highly-skilled team of maintenance technicians for a Co-Op opportunity at our Mt. Vernon, IN facility. Co-Ops hired for this position will perform tasks in their field of study while developing maintenance skills in a manufacturing environment. Be a part of something big and help support the defense industry while gaining valuable knowledge and honing your skills. 

 

Co-Ops will assist the Maintenance Department personnel, as directed by supervision in:

  • Daily machine checks
  • General mechanical maintenance including:
    • Plumbing
    • Machine Tool Corrective and Preventive Maintenance
    • Welding Equipment Corrective and Preventive Maintenance

 

Education required:

  • Completion of three semesters of Vocational Training along with instructor recommendation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude

 

Additional requirement:

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age by start date

 

Level of Supervision:

  • Work independently based on instructions, directions, or requests received from Supervisor and/or project lead
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to balance workloads and ensure quality and accurate deliverables are produced on time

 

 Pay: $20.00

 

The starting hourly rate for this position in Indiana (US-IN) is expected to be $20.00 per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
