Position Overview:

As a CNC Programmer, you will create and modify CNC programs using Siemens NX for various machining operations, ensuring compliance with print specifications and collaborating with CNC programmers, engineers, and machinists to enhance productivity. Key responsibilities include participating in meetings to uphold safety and quality standards, adjusting programs based on feedback, and promoting innovation in cutting technologies. This position requires strong technical skills in CNC programming, effective teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality and safe machining practices. This is a split shift position (1:30 PM to 12:00 AM). The job will start with training on first shift and then transition to a split shift work schedule.

Your Day to Day as a CNC Programmer:

  • Collaborate with CNC programmers, Tooling Application Engineers, Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and machinists to optimize machining processes for productivity and performance.
  • Participate in machining kick-off and pre-work meetings to ensure safe and efficient operations while maintaining high quality.
  • Collaborate with machinists during first-of-a-kind (FOAK) projects and implement program changes based on their feedback.
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement in cutting technologies and programming best practices.
  • Share ideas and align standard work with other BWXT sites.
  • Build effective relationships with machinists and conduct peer reviews of programs before implementation.
  • Troubleshoot machine challenges and read technical documents, including instructions and prints, while adhering to all company policies and procedures.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science degree in a technical field and (4) years of experience, or high school equivalency and (8) years of relevant experience
  • Experience programming 5-axis machines
  • Expertise reading blueprints and knowledge of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Working knowledge and application of standard G and M codes
  • Ability to maintain detailed process documentation and other production records
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to machining and CNC processes
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks or projects
  • Flexibility to report at other scheduled times as business need dictates
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming with different machining attachments (i.e. right angle, universal, offset milling)
  • Experience programming with Siemens NX and Vericut

Pay: $65,000 - $103,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $65,000 and $103,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
