We are seeking a Voice & Data Network Engineer to join BWXT’s innovative and growing IT Infrastructure team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the enterprise network infrastructure for BWXT with a focus at our Lynchburg, VA facilities. Candidates must be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent multitasking skills, and should be comfortable working in a large, high security, manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Support overall Cisco Call Manager environment for MACDs, patching, and troubleshooting
- Configure and support of Webex and MS Teams collaboration (i.e., Meetings, video, and calling)
- Provide day-to-day support of network and application environments including port configuration and cabling
- Lead the patching and asset management of all network and voice equipment on multiple networks
- Monitor and log issues and outages for network team across four different networks
- Provide evening and weekend support and maintenance, as well as travel to sites as required
- Maintain documentation of network closets and cable plant at the Lynchburg facility
- Work closely with other network infrastructure engineers to evaluate current and new technology, and improve all aspects of our infrastructure
- Collaborate with IT Infrastructure, Cyber and Application teams to configure and troubleshoot the network infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Two (2) years of network experience in a professional environment with five (5) years of overall IT experience
- Two (2) years of voice support experience for multiple locations
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance
Qualities that make great candidates:
- Knowledgeable of voice technologies such as SIP, PRI, POTs, Voice Gateways, Soft Phones, and Fax
- Understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI stack and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Understanding of switching, firewalls, STP, VLANs, VPNs, Trunks, ACLs, multicast routing
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills are required
- Familiarity dealing with multiple sites and end user support/help desk
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential
- A strong desire to learn and take on new challenges for self-development and to help to contribute to operations at a higher level.
- Experience working with Cisco gear and Cisco certifications a plus
