BWXT is currently seeking a Supplier Oversight Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The Supplier Oversight Engineer is responsible for supplier oversight of Material and/or Component procurement activities. This position serves in a technical, engineering oversight function for all BWXT-NOG Suppliers. This role requires travel (20% - 30%) to support Supplier Oversight functions. This position will be based at one of three NOG plant locations in either Lynchburg, VA, Barberton, OH, or Euclid, OH with satellite reporting to Lynchburg.
Job Description/Duties:
- Plans and coordinates surveillance locations and procedures.
- Interprets technical specifications and reviews applicable technical documents (procedures, specifications, test reports, requirements, etc.).
- Participates in Supplier Surveillance Inspection Plan (SSIP) review.
- Participates in pre-award and post-award supplier meetings.
- Supplements other oversight activities (audits, materials engineering surveillances, source inspections, etc.).
- Increases engagement with suppliers and subtier suppliers.
- Tracks implementation of supplier improvements, corrective actions, contract changes, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Materials Science preferred) from an ABET-accredited university plus four (4) years of relevant experience is required. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
- Familiarity with standard manufacturing processes desired.
- Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office suite and learn other electronic systems as needed.
- Must possess strong analytical skills with the ability to input data, trend, and analyze using Excel or other electronic tools.
- Prior experience with common metalworking manufacturing methods (melting, forging, rolling, heat treatments, etc.) is preferred.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with all levels of the organization and of the supplier.
- Must be able to travel to supplier sites.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
