BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Designs complex structural systems related to facility infrastructure and equipment.
• Performs structural evaluations and design for foundations, structural items, rigging, etc.
• Supports production, equipment, and facilities upgrades, improvements, or new installations.
• Assists with projects related to mechanical/electrical infrastructure additions, replacements, and/or modifications.
• Works alongside other facility engineers, contractors, and maintenance groups.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering plus two (2) years of related experience.
• Previous experience with industrial/facility infrastructure design and industrial equipment is required.
• Must have demonstrable skills and knowledge of CAD. Microstation is preferred.
• Must possess knowledge of creating shop drawings utilizing CAD software.
• Must possess knowledge of Concrete Analysis (ACI 318-19).
• Must possess knowledge of Structural Steel Analysis (AISC Steel Construction Manual). 
• Must possess knowledge of wind and seismic calculations (ASCE 7-22 Minimum Design Loads and Criteria for Buildings and Structures).
• Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with industrial/facility infrastructure design and industrial equipment.
• A working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 OSHA General Industry Regulations and Standard.

Pay: $62,000 - $109,000

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $62,000 and $109,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
