BWXT is currently seeking a Space Systems Technical Project Manager for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA!

BWXT’s Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.

 

BWXT Advanced Technologies LLC is seeking a Space Systems Technical Project Manager (TPM) to support growth and capture initiatives in the space portfolio. The TPM will continuously evaluate the space nuclear market, participating in industry events, meetings, and working groups, and implement strategy in AT to grow portfolio. Activities will include identifying opportunities, establishing external partnerships and relationships with government and industry stakeholders, creating and leading project plans to prepare for growth opportunities, and supporting or leading proposal activities for BWXT Ats space portfolio. Potential customers include, the US Department of Defense, the US Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and Spacecraft or component providers.  The Space Systems TPM may also interface with US regulatory bodies, supply chain and participate in professional associations forums.

Job Description / Duties: 

  • Execute the growth strategy for BWXT space nuclear business in coordination with the Director of Space and Emerging Programs.
  • Contribute to defining BWXT Advanced Technology business development program budgets, plans, strategies, and tactics.
  • Interface with potential customers, stakeholders, and partners to identify, qualify and capture new business opportunities.
  • Develop and successfully execute potential customer capture plans.
  • Plan, execute and participate in potential customer and industry briefings.
  • Plan, execute and contribute to the development and maintenance of Cost Models.
  • Work with Project/Program Management to ensure proposals and programs are established that meet industry and BWXT standard project management processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all company procedures.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the nuclear sector.
  • High level knowledge of space and/or nuclear technologies is required.
  • Must have general level knowledge of nuclear technology (reactors, manufacturing & isotope generation).
  • Must have experience communicating effectively with technical staff.
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills including power point are required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Must have computer proficiency with Microsoft products especially excel.
  • Must be fluent in English - written and verbal.
  • Travel (25-50%) domestic and international is required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

 

 

Pay: $98,000.00 - $154,000.00

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $98,000.00 and $154,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
