BWXT is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist to serve as a senior-level quality expert responsible for complex technical oversight, supplier assurance, audit leadership, corrective action management, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will serve as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on quality systems, including NQA‑1.

Your Day-to-Day as a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist
- Provide technical oversight for supplier and government‑furnished materials.
- Review material certifications to ensure testing results and metallurgical properties meet specifications.
- Oversee receipt inspection, over‑inspection, and production processes.
- Resolve technical issues as required.
- Maintain material, product traceability, and specification compliance databases.
- Review contract modifications and provide cost estimates for bid and proposal activities.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to Operating Procedures, Quality Work Instructions, and unit-specific instructions.
- Lead internal and external audits to verify technical, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare audit plans using performance data, prior findings, and applicable requirements.
- Initiate and review Corrective Actions, ensuring audit findings are fully resolved.
- Serve as the UPRR representative for customer audits.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of related experience.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Highly self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Six Sigma or lead certification/experience.
- Experience with NQA‑1 quality systems.

Pay: $$86,000 - $$136,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $$86,000 and $$136,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
