BWXT is currently seeking a Senior Nuclear Software Engineer for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA or Knoxville, TN!

Job Description / Duties:

  • Develop software applications for reactor simulations and design optimization.
  • Architect a reactor simulation tool framework to enable users to perform a large variety of reactor analyses.
  • Work with teams of engineers (mechanical, electrical and software) and internal customers to design, build, maintain, and upgrade simulation tools.
  • Generate and execute software tests plans and develop support source code documentation and user manuals.
  • Integrate applications/systems with third-party hardware and software.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field of study (e.g., Software Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering, etc.) from an ABET-accredited university is required.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Must be proficient in C++, Python, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI / CD), Git.
  • Must have an interest in nuclear products and a passion for world-changing innovation.
  • A mix of remote and on-site work is required.
  • Travel is flexible, 10-20% domestic and international possible.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

 

Additional Desired Skillsets:

  • Experience with Scrum / Agile.
  • Experience working in Engineering / Scientific compute frameworks / applications.
  • Skills developing parallel compute capabilities (CUDA, MPI, OpenMP).
  • Familiarity working with nuclear, engineering or physics simulation tools.
