BWXT is seeking a Radiochemist for our Ramsey location in Lynchburg, VA!

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support BWXT’s development of R&D concepts and radiochemical processes.
  • Devise new radiochemical separation and processing concepts to support the business unit’s needs.
  • Develop and improve the analytical methods used in assessing the radiochemical attributes of the group’s products.
  • Assess the nuclear waste characteristics of the group’s chemical processes to support regulatory and waste classification exercises.
  • Assist in the development of failure mode effects analyses (FMEAs), test plans, test reports, operating procedures, and maintenance procedures for new or updated processing equipment

 

 Job Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in radiochemistry, chemistry, nuclear science/engineering, or chemical engineering is required along with 4+ years of related laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated self-starter that is comfortable working in a team environment or individually.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills.
  • Must be a US citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

US Citizenship, with no dual citizenship is required for this position. 

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
