BWXT is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA!

 

BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT’s innovation hub. BWXT’s Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.

 

This position will primarily provide quality assurance support and oversight of advanced nuclear research & development activities for space applications. The Quality Assurance Engineer’s primary tasks are to monitor, evaluate and support compliance with the quality assurance program and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.

Job Description / Duties:

  • Monitor design, analysis, fabrication and testing activities for compliance with customer, regulatory and BWXT requirements.
  • Provide support and oversight for development, testing and prototype activities.
  • Conduct reviews of engineering documents, drawings, software and procedures to ensure that applicable quality requirements are met.
  • Identify quality requirements for procurements.
  • Review supplier quality documentation.
  • Assist with and review disposition of nonconformances.
  • Participate in quality program development including preparation of quality manuals, plans and procedures.
  • Participate in periodic internal audits, surveillances and assessments. 
  • Evaluate corrective actions for adequacy and completeness; lead cause analysis.
  • Support additional assignments by management.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in quality engineering in the defense or aerospace industry is required.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100D, or NASA procedural requirements.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.
  • Experience as ISO 9001/AS9100 auditor is desired.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques is desired.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques is desired.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
