BWXT is currently seeking a Product/Process Development Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

The Product/Process Development Engineer will execute customer-funded development work on advanced designs. 

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Develops next generation materials and fabrication methods as related to current and future product, processes, and methods.
  • Designs and executes development workscopes independently and in teams. 
  • Proposes and plans new scopes of work to support customer and company product and process objectives. 
  • Works with suppliers and customers to determine process capability limits.
  • Supports shop floor development operations, resolves fabrication issues, and generates process improvement ideas. 
  • Prepares operating procedures, drawings, and electronic shop floor routing documents. 
  • Prepares customer submittals to transmit information and plans. 
  • Authors reports documenting process/material testing, structural analysis, and well-engineered solutions to problems. 
  • Participates and/or leads project teams to solve problems or initiate new projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. A PhD may substitute for experience. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
  • Must possess a minimum of four (4) years of relevant engineering experience.
  • NOG-L Lower Tier manufacturing experience is preferred. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with both hourly and salary employees.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative design team is required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
