BWXT is currently seeking a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Develops a high level of technical knowledge of the inspection techniques in a factory production environment.
  • Reviews and analyzes inspection results and addresses production concerns in a timely manner.
  • Creates and implements inspection method improvements.
  • Plans and executes qualification and maintenance of inspection gages or equipment as needed, including working with external vendors and internal support groups.
  • Prepares operating procedures, drawings, software specifications, and forms as necessary to implement and support inspections.
  • Prepares technical reports to document inspection development, implementation, and results, and submits to internal and external customers.
  • Interacts with customers to promote positive working relationships and understanding of product requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics or other related technical field from an ABET Accredited Institution is required.  Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible. 
  • Must possess at least two (2) years of experience.
  • Prior experience with radiation counting, digital radiography, or other non-destructive testing inspections preferred.
  • Prior experience with analyzing large data sets is required. 
  • Must have demonstrable knowledge of computer programming, automated systems, or electrical systems. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for interaction with a variety of personnel.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
