BWXT is currently seeking a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!


Job Description/Duties:

  • Develops a high level of technical knowledge of the inspection techniques in a factory production environment.
  • Designs and develops new UT techniques to inspect various components.
  • Interacts with customers to promote positive working relationships and understanding of product requirements.
  • Prepares technical reports for submittals to our internal and external customers, documenting inspection development, implementation, and results.
  • Prepares operating procedures, drawings, software specifications, and forms as necessary to implement and support inspections.
  • Addresses production concerns in a timely manner.
  • Creates and implements inspection method improvements.
  • Plans and executes gage or equipment upgrades or replacements as needed including working with external vendors and internal support groups.
  • Supports UT inspectors including training and qualifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution is required. 
  • Must possess at least seven (7) years of Ultrasonic Testing.
  • Prior experience with full matrix capture UT preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain test examiner role for UT inspectors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
