Position Overview:
The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting wired and wireless networks within a Cisco environment. Responsibilities include implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network services, while developing a roadmap for local area network evolution. The engineer will collaborate with Manufacturing Systems teams to segment operational technology traffic for enhanced security. Additional duties involve managing data center and manufacturing firewalls, load balancers, and security appliances, as well as supporting the SDWAN environment. The role requires monitoring network performance, ensuring security compliance, and providing daily support for voice and video systems across US sites.

Your Day to Day as a Network Engineer:
- Assist in the overall network support for wired and wireless networks. This includes implementation, management and troubleshooting in a Cisco environment.
- Build and maintain a roadmap for the evolution of local area network services, to provide LAN services to our administration and Operation technology networks.
- Work with our Manufacturing Systems teams to properly segment operational technology (production) traffic to provide protective security measures within the Perdue network.
- Provide network support for on-premise and cloud data centers in a highly available architecture (Cisco Nexus and Microsoft Azure).
- Manage data center and manufacturing firewalls, load balancers, and security appliances (Cisco/Palo Alto/Fortinet/NetScaler).
- Supports company SDWAN environment (Velocloud/Meraki). This includes updates, new installations, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor end of life/end of support cycles for the various platforms and propose projects to refresh the hardware to allow the company to remain supported.
- Perform daily network management, performance monitoring, network monitoring, inventory, and backup as needed (AKiPS, ThousandEyes, Catalyst Center).
- Work closely with the company's information security department on ensuring the LAN is protected from malicious activity.
- Provide and maintain technical design, implementation, documentation and operational leadership for all aspects of networking.
- Provide daily support for voice and video systems for US sites.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or 4 years of equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of overall IT experience with 3+ years managing and deploying network devices (Routers, Switches, Load balancers, Access Points, Wireless Controllers).
- Experience with modern routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP) and cloud networking (Azure, AWS).
- Network problem solving and troubleshooting skills including running wire captures to determine where a problem may exist. (Wireshark, Splunk).
- Experience with network segmentation for the purpose of reducing risk to critical processes on a network.
- Comfortable using hand tools and basic technical equipment.
- Ability to follow written instructions, floor plans, and checklists.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Professional communication skills and comfort working in a manufacturing setting.
- Able to obtain a DOE Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco network switches, including models such as Catalyst and Nexus series, VeloCloud routers, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Incident and Problem Management Experience.
- CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar credentials.
- Cisco Catalyst Center experience.
- CMMC Compliance experience.
- Microsoft Visio - Network Diagrams.
- Cisco/Microsoft Teams voice and AV experience a plus.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
