BWXT is currently seeking a NDT Systems Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!


Job Description/Duties:

  • Develops an intimate knowledge of inspection systems used within NDT.
  • Develops upgrades and improvements to current inspection equipment through instrumentation, software, and database programming.
  • Addresses production concerns in a timely manner.
  • Prepares operating procedures, drawings, software specifications, functional specifications, test plans, and forms necessary to support shop floor operations.
  • Prepares customer submittals to transmit information and plans on new systems or system upgrades.
  • Authors reports documenting process/material testing and well-engineered solutions to problems.
  • Interacts with customers to promote good working relationships and understandings of customer requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Software or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Must possess at least two (2) years of experience in NDT Systems.
  • Prior experience programming production systems is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
