Position Overview:
As our Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting facility operations and capital projects by providing technical expertise in equipment systems, utility infrastructure, and equipment integration. This role will collaborate with cross functional teams to support equipment selection, lead installation and commissioning planning, and ensure utility service designs and infrastructure upgrades meet industry standards and reliability goals, and safety requirements.

Your Day to Day as a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer:
- Collaborate with project teams by providing essential maintenance and facilities input during the equipment selection process.
- Lead the development of industrialization, installation, and commissioning plans for new equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing utility services.
- Provide design support for utility service and infrastructure installations, modifications, or upgrades, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and safety standards.
- Offer engineering support during planning and management activities including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), work authorizations, corrective action investigations, etc.
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance routines for building utilities and process equipment, including the identification and organization of critical spare parts and consumables.
- Create and update comprehensive maintenance work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process documentation to support daily operations.
- Create, update, and maintain as-built drawing as related to facility infrastructure.
- Continuously monitor equipment performance and propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance practices adhere to regulatory requirements and quality standards while promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics is required (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related field, with hands-on experience demonstrating proficiency in preventative maintenance, facility modifications, and process improvement is required.
- Must have a strong understanding of building utilities, process equipment, and maintenance best practices.
- Must have strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Must have experience with the interpretation and application of industry standards and safety regulations.
- Must have experience updating and maintaining electronic drawing documentation.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must be able to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely written and verbal communication.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a radiological, laboratory, or chemical handling environment.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS/BMS).
- SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Revit experience
- Siemens/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI experience
- Active DOD or DOE security clearance.

Pay: $86,000.00 - $136,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,000.00 and $136,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
