BWXT is currently seeking a Lower Tier Filler & Element Process Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The successful candidate will be responsible for a technical role in overseeing machining processes and proprietary processes specific to the manufacture of nuclear components.
Job Description/Duties:
- Authors Technical Reports and piece part working drawings.
- Maintains process specific operation procedures and processing documents.
- Interfaces with Operations, Engineering, Quality Control, Production Control, and hourly operators to resolve product/process concerns and process improvements.
- Interfaces with machinists to resolve product/process concerns and process improvements.
- Interfaces with internal and external customers to resolve product/process concerns.
- Oversees the procurement of piece parts utilized in the component fabrication process.
- Implements process monitoring and process improvements.
- Interfaces with next stage process engineers to ensure product retirements are achieved and within normal process variation.
- Coordinates with Operations and Production Control personnel to maintain production schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. Mechanical Engineering degrees preferred. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
- Must be able to read and interpret machine drawings.
- Prior experience working with vacuum systems and high temperature furnaces is desired.
- Experience with machining and machine design is desired.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
