BWXT is currently seeking an intern to assist with technician and engineering duties in support of a material characterization and metallographic inspection laboratory group.
Job Responsibilities:
This position requires a mix of hands-on laboratory work and administrative tasks.
- Prepare weld samples for metallographic evaluation using standard grinding and polishing techniques.
- Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment.
- Track and catalog samples.
- Manage lab supply inventories.
- <20 hours/week
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled student, pursuing a degree in a technical training program related to science, engineering, or manufacturing.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment is desired. Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, but consideration is given to all applicants with a strong desire to learn new technical skills, methods, and equipment.

- Metallographic sample preparation.
- Welding.
- Machining.
- Microscopy.
- Heat treatment and operation of high-temperature furnaces.
- Mechanical aptitude and desire for hands-on learning.
