BWXT is seeking an IT Systems Administrator for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

Design, implement, and troubleshoot information systems and technology solutions in support of BWXT business units. Support datacenter operations such as server, network, and storage hardware and their associated management platforms. Remain current with new technology developments and trends and continue to grow skills to leverage these new advances.

 

Troubleshoot complex problems and work collaboratively with customers and business users during daily support and on complex projects. This position requires availability to work after hours to handle critical issues when necessary.

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Serve as Technical Expert for IT Operations - virtualization, storage, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, and other application administration.
  • Implement new technology to support IT and business improvements.
  • Support Airgapped network with increased security requirements such as DISA STIGs.
  • Implement, document & support the Data Center operations daily.
  • Design, maintain, and monitor datacenter backups for all servers and SANs.
  • Administer and support critical production applications.
  • Support Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Exchange, IP Monitoring, and terminal server system / Windows Firewall.
  • Implement and manage SANs and vSAN.
  • Set up, administer, and support virtualization platforms, such as VMware, Microsoft, and Linux.
  • Participate in implementing system security patches, software, firmware, and system upgrades to maintain security compliance.
  • Assist desktop engineers with advanced troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement activities.
  • Review, update, implement and test the Disaster Recovery plan.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) clearance. Active security clearance is preferred.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Active Directory, vmWare vSphere, SRM, Group Policy, DISA STIG controls, Windows Server Operating Systems, Exchange, Skype for Business & Teams, Networking, DFS, and Clustering.
  • Have some experience with Ivanti/LANDesk, Splunk, Netwrix, What’s Up Gold, Kemp, Commvault, Cohesity, LANSweeper, Open Manage.
  • Able to install and troubleshoot physical hardware.
  • In-depth experience with various physical server and virtual backup and recovery solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience with storage area networks, vSAN, and administration and support of Data Center Infrastructure Operations.
  • Ability to cross train team members.
  • Demonstrable experience solving practical problems and organizing workload for effective implementation
  • Able to carry out responsibilities under general supervision
  • Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Show strong customer and results orientation with the ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Ability to adapt as the external environment and the organization evolves.

Pay: $81,000 - $123,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia at the start of employment is expected to be between $81,000 and $123,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
