BWXT is seeking an IT Intern (Year-Round) for its Lynchburg, VA location! 

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Provide Tier 1 support for customers and tracking performance through the IT Support Workorders.
  • Configure mobility solutions via highly secure controls.
  • Provide customers with local and telephone support by resolving issues, prioritizing issues and escalating as needed.
  • Assist customers with desktop operating systems, email, Microsoft Office, PC hardware and Remote Access.
  • Document incident/request specifics in the Incident Management System.
  • Communicate any current outage/critical incident status to callers and, if new information/symptoms reported notify IT management team.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement activities, making recommendations whenever possible.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems on computer systems.
  • Manage backlog of IT tracking system to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Communicate with teams within IT to develop solutions to work orders.
  • Participate in teams to support IT projects.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with current enrollment and completed college coursework in Information Technology is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 10.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Good oral and written communications.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex problems and solutions to end users.
  • Ability to work in local and remote teams.
  • Proficiency in typing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) clearance. 

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia is expected to be $20.75  per hour. The anticipated rate following successful progression in the role is expected to be $34.75 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will, unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
