BWXT is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

The UPRR Facilities Engineer is responsible for overall support of the UPRR production processes, including working closely with area supervision and hourly personnel.

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Applies mechanical and project based experience and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments including process and administrative tasks.
  • Evaluates engineering problems and methods to resolve important issues and to plan, and coordinate, work.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates complex projects as well as balances the smaller day-to-day process necessities.
  • Writes technical papers and develops procedures that are easy to understand by engineers, non-engineers, management, etc.
  • Tracks financial goals and forecasts to assist with project functions such as developing schedules, compiling cost estimates, and creating work packages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required. Preference is given to candidates who have an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree plus a Master’s degree in Engineering. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible. ABET-accreditation can be confirmed using the following website: https://www.abet.org/accreditation/find-programs/
  • Must possess at least ten (10) years of related experience.
  • Must have demonstrable skills and knowledge using a change management system (EtQ), corrective action system (DocQNet), Microsoft Office Suite, and Primavera. Prior experience using Solid Edge is preferred.
  • Previous experience with project controls is preferred (ex: creating schedules, tracking and trending progress, and risk management).
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must possess proven ability building relationships across various groups of stakeholders.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
