BWXT is currently seeking an Equipment Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

The Equipment Engineer provides manufacturing engineering support for EMO shop floor operations while continuously putting safety first. 

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Researches, evaluates, and understands production processes to develop well engineered solutions.
  • Prepares procedures and drawings to support manufacturing activities. 
  • Resolves daily manufacturing issues in a team environment. 
  • Identifies, designs, procures, and implements, manufacturing equipment and fixtures. 
  • Communicates design ideas with process engineers and area personnel both orally and in writing. 
  • Performs process monitoring using statistical methods. 
  • Generates process improvements including span and cost reductions. 
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university plus two (2) years of relevant experience is required. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
  • Must possess previous experience in mechanical design, including generating drawings, procedures, and technical reports. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of chemical processing (pickling) or heat treat is desired. 
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail and the ability to to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Must be able to effectively lead multi-disciplinary projects. 

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with both hourly and salary personnel is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
