BWXT is currently seeking a Configuration/Data Management Specialist for its Lynchburg, VA – Ramsey Place location!

 

BWXT’s Advanced Technology (AT) group designs and develops innovative nuclear reactors, radioisotope production systems, and data science and advanced manufacturing techniques for leading-edge applications. BWXT is seeking an experienced Configuration and Data Management (CMDM) Specialist. The CMDM specialist will work closely with project technical leads and project managers to establish and manage systems and processes to meet project requirements. This position will report to the Manager of Systems Engineering.

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Evaluate, recommend, and set up the CM/DM system to store and maintain version control of source code and other configuration items (CIs).
  • Evaluate, recommend, and set up the configuration management (CM) system to perform change management—Including storage and maintenance of Trouble Requests (TRs).
  • Establish the configuration management library and assist with the administration and management of the CM environment (e.g., establish file structure, verify permission rights, review credentials like training/citizenship for access, assist development and maintenance with processes and procedures).
  • Perform CM activities associated with configuration identification, change control, release management, status accounting, and reviews and audits.
  • Collect CM metrics and prepare CM metric reports.
  • Assist in conducting CM audits.
  • Maintain applicable configuration baseline documentation and maintain records of product baselines and Configuration Items (CIs).
  • Establish change orders, prepare change authorization, and documentation.
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes.
  • Review contracts and proposals for data management requirements.
  • Create and approve program Configuration/Data Management Plans and provide input to program plans.
  • Manage Contract Line Item Numbers (CLIN), Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), and Subcontract Data Requirements List (SDRL) deliverables.
  • Maintain program deliverables baseline requirements (submittals and content).
    • Create status accounting for Data Requirements Deliverables (DRDs).
    • Review for complete content, submit and document transmittal of all deliverables.
    • Maintain and record copies of program documentation and deliverables.
  • Track program actions and create status accounting for Program Action Item List; take minutes and assign actions from program meetings.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering (ABET Accredited), Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must be proficient with standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interface effectively with program management, other internal stakeholders, and customers is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

 

Demonstrated Experience:

  • Established and followed CM/DM processes throughout project life cycles to maintain consistent configuration control.
  • Developed, operated, and maintained CM database and other process management tools.
  • Maintained the Hardware and Software Configuration Management Plan.
  • Managed CM products and documentation.
  • Prepared/published results of configuration audits.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring, administering, and maintaining SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of CM tool(s) with check-in/check-out capabilities (e.g., TeamCenter, ClearCase, CMPro, etc.).
