BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) is looking for a Communications Intern in our Lynchburg, VA location!
Duration - based on school schedule: Starting part-time at the beginning of May, turning full-time over the summer, and returning to part-time when school restarts
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Team with partners across the communications organization to develop plans and content to include messages from leaders, feature stories, posters, digital graphics, executive bios and video in support of BWXT campaigns.
- Effectively counsel and influence stakeholders in communications best practices, providing recommendations on messaging, channel and media.
- Draft and develop communications deliverables in support of campaign objectives.
- Support other Communications campaign leaders – both internal and external – in developing and delivering communications tactics
- Build and execute measurable communications programs aligned with business priorities.
- Liaise with counterparts in marketing, public relations and external communications to ensure consistency of messaging, share deliverables and serve as information conduit communications team.
Required Qualifications:
- Rising university Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related area.
- Earliest acceptable graduation is spring 2025.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant coursework in corporate communications, public relations, marketing, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to write and edit clear, engaging, and grammatically correct content; willingness to be coached.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Action-oriented and curious individual who demonstrates collaboration and strong emotional intelligence.
- Great attention to detail and strong work ethic.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Computer and software knowledge, including database management and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be a United States citizen with no dual citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of SharePoint and M365 platforms a plus!
Pay: $19.57 - $28.84
The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $19.57 and $28.84 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
