BWXT is currently seeking a Chemical Vapor (CVI/CVD) Research Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA – Ramsey Place location!


BWXT’s Advanced Technologies group is currently seeking an innovative research engineer to serve as a lead for CVI development for nuclear products at its location in Lynchburg, VA.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Lead research and development for pilot-scale production activities for a variety of products requiring chemical vapor deposition and/or infiltration.
  • Develop system engineering and improvement plans.
  • Direct equipment modifications for improved process performance.
  • Ensure work is performed safely following quality assurance protocols.
  • Establish new processes in a series of experiments and test plans.
  • Work with a team of other researchers and development engineers for integration of CVI technologies into advanced nuclear product manufacturing processes.
  • Incorporate the support of data science subject matter experts to develop strategies for in-situ monitoring and analytics to accelerate development.


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience.
  • Must possess a strong skill set in chemical vapor processing techniques; preferably with chemical vapor infiltration experience. 
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
