Position Summary:

 

The Senior Director of Waste Operations is a senior level management position reporting to the CH-TRU Program Manager.  The Senior Director of Waste Operations position at N3B CH-TRU is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of the following organizations:

1) Project Management related to development of design and implementation of processes for below ground TRU waste container retrievals and remediation,

2) Above Ground Retrievals & Routine Operations,

3) Below Ground Retrievals & Routine Operations,

4) Waste Processing and Remediation, Environment, Safety & Health and Industrial Hygiene Operations Support and

5) Radiological Controls Operations Support. This includes all field and site operations of Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Facilities at Technical Area 54 Area G.

 

The CH-TRU Director of Waste Operations ensures compliant management and remediation of TRU waste streams stored above ground and retrieved from below ground. The position oversees non-TRU waste management operations performed inside of TA-54 Area G (i.e., packaging, storage, waste minimization, etc.).

 

The CH-TRU Senior Director of Waste Operations oversees, authorizes and/or manages all operational and/or packaging and transportation activities including safety/authorization/compliance basis; health, safety and environmental management; security; quality assurance and production and work control; equipment facility engineering; maintenance management; contract labor negotiations; waste management; inventory control; and packaging/shipping/receiving activities. 

 

The primary interface for the Senior Director of Waste Operations is with the CH-TRU Program Manager and the managers leading support groups within Waste and Facility Operations. Just as important are those interactions with those groups within CH-TRU (i.e., Work Control & Maintenance, TRU Waste Management, Low Level Waste Programs and Disposition, Compliance and Integration, and Project Controls). Interfaces external to CH-TRU include Environmental Restoration that relies on Waste and Facility Operations for matrixed Radiological Control Technician (RCT) support via the TA-54 RADCON group.
