BWXT Canada Ltd. is seeking an experienced and innovative R&D Engineering Manager to join our team in Kitchener, ON

You’ll lead a dedicated team of two R&D Engineers, with a strong focus on fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Nuclear Services Design Engineering Manager, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and manage development projects—both internally and customer-funded—from concept through execution.

  • Prepare capital and R&D funding requests, including project proposals and justifications.

  • Collaborate with Project Controls to develop project budgets, schedules, and earned value tracking.

  • Act as the primary liaison with customers on development initiatives, providing weekly updates to senior leadership.

  • Ensure technical compliance with specifications, standards, and quality assurance systems.

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, and oversee the patent process where applicable.

  • Continuously collect and evaluate R&D ideas from across the organization to drive innovation.

  • Assign work, set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and complete performance evaluations for your team.

  • Identify training and development needs to support team growth and project success.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering.

  • Ideal candidate has 5 or more years of experience in a nuclear service or similar high-regulation environment.

  • Demonstrated success in leading technical teams or engineering projects.

  • Solid understanding of Quality Assurance systems.

  • Experiene with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: tooling or machine design, materials engineering, non-destructive examination (NDE), or welding.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $89,000 and $139,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
