Quality Assurance Manager - BWXT NOG-J - Jonesborough, TN
The Manager of Quality Assurance for BWXT NOG-J in Jonesborough Tennessee will report to the BWXT Ordnance Tennessee General Manager. The Manager of Quality Assurance will be directly responsible for a team of Quality Inspectors and Quality Engineers. This position will develop, administer and implement methods for improving product quality, documentation, or quality system processes, will manage the development and maintenance of quality programs, systems, processes and procedures that ensure compliance with policies and that the performance and quality of products or services conform to established standards, and will ensure that delivered products conform to regulatory, contractual and company requirements for product quality, performance, reliability, product life, serviceability and any special characteristics/conditions that may apply.
The Manager of Quality Assurance will ensure adherence to and compliance with established Company quality policies, practices and government regulations by developing, administering and maintaining quality assurance systems, standards and activities, participate in design review meetings, provide input in the development of process specifications and workmanship standards; provide short and long-range planning for quality assurance operations and implement approved plans; implement/support of a variety of process control techniques across the facility. This position will establish, administer and implement non-destructive testing (NDT) system design criteria to meet Customer requirements and specifications and provide solutions to NDT challenges by conducting nondestructive examination (NDE) and quality control (QC) inspection on products, materials, and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standard, and will evaluate quality system effectiveness with emphasis on preventive action. This position will closely coordinate with other functional areas including but not limited to Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Program Management to ensure significant issues are investigated adequately, root cause is identified, corrective actions are taken and mistake proofing is initiated where appropriate. The Manager of Quality Assurance will implement new and proven processes for management of life-cycle risk identification and mitigation, Process Variation Management (PVM), and Corrective/Preventive Action, implement corrective action boards when necessary in order to maximize the probability of mission success at an affordable cost, reduce production disruptions, improve yield, and reduce non-conformances (NC) and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), and may be responsible for conducting audits and evaluations to determine program implementation and effectiveness. This position will also coordinate and manage internal or onsite audits by external parties such as for AS9100, etc.

- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline and 8 years of progressively responsible experience in an Industrial, Manufacturing or Operations environment required or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years in a direct supervisory/managerial role.
- Knowledge of and in depth understanding of AS9100, ISO17025, and/or other related quality management systems.
- Prior experience interfacing with external auditors and internal/external customers.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is required.
- US Citizenship with no dual citizenship.
Pay: $85,000 - $134,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000 and $134,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
