Manufacturing Operations Supervisor - BWXT NOG-J - Jonesborough, TN

 

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor will be responsible to plan, organize and direct foundry manufacturing operations, technical and production activities and staff, oversee and coordinate the manufacture of high technology products that conform to contractual and Company requirements for performance, reliability and any special characteristics and conditions that may apply, and analysis, evaluation and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing methods, facilities, processes, material and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of products while maintaining a safe work environment. 

 

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for foundry operations will initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and resources and will be  accountable for the application of engineering procedures which may involve theoretical and experimental investigation, technical direction and coordination, conception and planning of resources to support hardware and/or software requirements; manufacturing function involving the fabrication and assembly of research and development components and assemblies; design, fabrication, modification or repair of special tools and equipment required to support the manufacturing, quality and test operations; and implementation and maintenance of cost effective work measurement program.

 

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for foundry operations will provide short and long-range planning for manufacturing operations and implement approved plans, ensure that activities within defined scope are accomplished safely and in accordance with Company policies, sound business practices and are in compliance with applicable regulations and requirements. 

 

      Knowledge of:

 

  • Applicable codes, rules and regulations in the field of manufacturing, techniques and inspection requirements
  • Foundry operations including but not limited to molding, forming, casting, cutting, rolling and heat treating operations, manual machining processes and gaging/inspection equipment
  • Fabrication of various types of metals and alloys, assembly of components including heavy metal products such as Tungsten and/or Depleted Uranium
  • Processes and analytical equipment
  • Manufacturing processes and methods, Lean, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies, tools and concepts
  • Production planning and scheduling of resources, manpower, materials and machines
  • Principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building and conflict resolution
  • Principles and techniques of personnel management and supervision.
  • Principles and practices of organizational analysis and management
  • Budgeting procedures and techniques
  • Applicable safety rules and regulations
  • Applicable computer equipment and software, performance measurement systems and statistical concepts

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management and individual contributors and across multiple organizations
  • Immediately escalate potential safety hazards, safety incidents, issues affecting production schedules, non-conformities and areas of concern to direct manager/supervisor
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • May provide technical and administrative supervision to other operational units within a manufacturing area

 

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in preferably in Engineering or a closely related discipline and five (5) years of progressively responsible technical experience in a directly related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is required.

Pay: $64,000 - $101,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
