Position Overview:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs within the HPDU program at NOG-J. This role involves conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. The role will work closely with employees and management to mitigate risks, improve safety practices, and foster a safe working environment.

Your Day to Day as a Health & Safety Professional:
- Develops, implements, and maintains health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Ensures that health and safety programs are effectively communicated and implemented throughout the organization.
- Conducts regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommends corrective actions.
- Monitors workplace conditions and practices to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Designs and delivers training programs on health and safety topics to employees, supervisors, and management.
- Ensures that all employees are informed of safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Leads investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepares reports on incidents and safety performance metrics for management review.
- Stays up to date with changes in health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Serves as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Fosters a culture of safety within the organization, encouraging employee participation in safety programs and initiatives.
- Collaborates with managers and supervisors to integrate safety into day-to-day operations.
- Analyzes health and safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement and recommend changes to policies or practices.
- Prepares and presents regular reports on safety performance, compliance status, and program effectiveness to management.
- Develops and implements emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring staff are trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
- Conducts regular drills and training sessions to assess readiness and improve response capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment that utilizes hazardous materials.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)) are preferred.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
